Term 2 Reflections

As we come to the end of term, I would like to thank our BJE community for your continued support, partnership and trust.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the families who so courageously contributed to the BJE Submission to the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion. We have provided consent for the submission to be made publicly available, at the discretion of the Commissioner. I deeply appreciate the courage it takes to come forward and share personal experiences—your contributions are helping to shape critical conversations for the broader Australian community.
I am also pleased to introduce our 2025 Annual Report (hyperlink), which provides a meaningful snapshot of BJE’s impact. This year reflects strong growth across our programs, with more students engaged than ever before and expanding opportunities across our Jewish Journey.
Our BJE Bubs program continues to go from strength to strength. Open to parents and carers with babies aged 6–24 months, it offers a warm and welcoming entry point into our community. This initiative, made possible through the Jewish Community Response Grants Program, has quickly become a vibrant space for connection. The group meets every Wednesday at 10:30am in the Eastern Suburbs. We encourage you to share this opportunity with any new parents you may know. Families can learn more here
Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our before and after school Hebrew programs at Kensington Public School and Bellevue Hill Public School. For more information, click here.
We also remain hopeful that, with continued peace in the Middle East, our Nesiah Israel Trip will proceed—offering students a transformative opportunity to connect deeply with their Jewish identity. More information is available here.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge our exceptional staff across all BJE programs. As Pirkei Avot teaches, “The world is built on threethings: on Torah, on service, and on acts of kindness” (1:2). I see these values brought to life every day through the dedication, care and commitment ofour team, as they engage young people and families and create meaningful opportunities for connection, identity and belonging across our community.
A little end-of-term riddle: What has no legs, but travels across generations, connects people around the world, and grows stronger the more it is shared? (Read to the end of our newsletter for the answer)
Wishing you all a safe and restful break. As always, Cyndi in Enrolments is available to answer any enrolment queries. Please reach out to her at: cyndi@bje.nsw.edu.au or 93657900.
