The Arab-Israel conflict is a complex one with the two sides often having seemingly irreconcilable opinions and attitudes. Some of the underlying causes of this conflict date back centuries or even millenia, making it impossible to understand the conflict without at least some knowledge of the earlier history of the region. Yet despite this complex and lengthy background, the Arab states of Egypt and Jordan have made peace with Israel and efforts continue to achieve peace between the other Arab states and Israel.
