Social Program Coordinator

Job Description

The NSW Board of Jewish Education (BJE) is seeking a suitably qualified, highly motivated and innovative Social Program Coordinator with excellent strategic and organisational skills as well as a passion for encouraging pride in Jewish identity, cultivating Jewish friendship networks, and raising community engagement for students in primary school.

This is a  newly-created full time position.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Contribute to the development of the BJE’s strategic vision for primary school social programs
  • Work closely with CEO and the senior Executive team
  • Be involved with parent committees to drive the strategic vision
  • Recruit, manage and supervise Madrichim (youth leaders)
  • Planning and coordination of the Primary Social Program and its activities
  • Programs may include (but are not limited to):
    • Vacation Care programs for students in K-6 to cultivate Jewish friendships
    • After-School programs to enable students to connect with Jewish peers in their local area
    • Year 6 camp to cultivate Jewish friendships
  • Maintaining budget and tracking expenditures/transactions
  • Keep up-to-date records and create reports or proposals
  • Support program growth and development
  • Ensuring implementation of policies and practices
  • Determine eligibility for different Government and Council rebates, such as Centrelink, Service NSW, Local Council, as well as implement and operate the appropriate tracking systems (such as Centrelink student’s attendance)
  • Liaising with stakeholders
  • Help build positive relationships within the team and with external parties

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed a tertiary qualification
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ subsequent relevant work experience
  • A valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check) or the ability to obtain one

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  1. Proven experience as program coordinator or similar relevant position
  2. Knowledge of program management and development procedures
  3. Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting
  4. Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office
  5. Ability to work with diverse communities
  6. Excellent time-management and organisational skills
  7. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  8. Detail-oriented and efficient
  9. The ability to work collaboratively and with collegiality in a high pressure environment
